Last night before bed we were reading one of Kaylee's Fancy Nancy books and they were talking about donut holes during one part. Kaylee then asked me what a donut hole was. So I said, "you know how a donut is round with a hole in the center, well, a donut hole is the center part." She just kind of looked at me so I said, "you know what a donut is right"? She still just looked at me funny and I thought, Oh No! How does my 5 year old seriously not know what a donut is??!! I have seriously failed as a mother!!! ;) Now if I really think about it I know she has had a donut before. Like maybe when she was 2 or 3 so I am sure she just did not remember. But to fix this huge problem we went here this morning......
....and life was good!
Lex enjoyed sharing one with me.
Then of course to solve the other problem of not knowing what a donut hole is we got some of those good powdered sugar ones to take home.
Mission accomplished!

First Sleepover
Last Friday night Kaylee had her first sleepover away from Mommy and Daddy. She went to Auntie's house! Kaylee was so excited to go and did not get nervous at all. I on the other hand felt sad not having my Kaylee. It was weird only putting one kid to bed that night and having her room being empty. I knew she was in good hands though and having a great time!

Daddy Day
Last Saturday was Daddy Day at Kaylee's school. She was so excited to have a fun day with just her Daddy!
They did crafts...
....and of course all the Dads were in need of a shave!
Here they are hanging up the bird house they made together on the tree in our front yard. They stocked it with bird seed and now we are just waiting for the birds. I hope they discover it soon because we have an anxious little girl that has me check it every day!

Birthday School make-up!
On Kaylee's actual Birthday I was supposed to go to school with her and be the parent class helper. I was so sad to miss that but luckily it worked out that no one else was helping last Monday so I was able to go that day instead. We also did a make-up day for her class birthday celebration.
She got to wear a fun Birthday hat and they all sung Happy Birthday to her at snack time.
Then at the end of the day they all do the Birthday dance to "You Say It's Your Birthday"

Birthday ice cream make-up!
Since she was sick on her actual birthday and the few days around it we waited until last Sunday to go and take advantage of her free birthday ice cream at Baskin Robbins. We did not want to miss that!
Lex was all done and now trying to eat some of Kaylee's ice cream. She was leaning over her shoulder going "ice cream too". That is the new thing she says whenever she wants something that sissy has. She says whatever she wants followed by "too".
Poor Kaylee trying to stay away from Lex.

Birthday sick
Those are two words that should not go together! Poor Kaylee got sick with a yucky cold and fever the Monday after her party and did not start feeling better until Friday. Her actual Birthday was in the middle of all that on Wed January 26. I still wanted to decorate all cute for her birthday even though she did not feel well. I assumed we would have a make-up day for her Birthday breakfast, dinner, and cake, but she still wanted all those things. She was a trooper! She got up and said she still wanted her requested breakfast of birthday pancakes. Then for dinner my Mom and sister still came over and we had the requested taco dinner and then cake and ice cream after. When we weren't eating Kaylee spent the rest of the day laying on the couch watching her new Barbie movie for about 5 or 6 times in a row.....I lost count!
